School of Advanced Study, University of Londonمعرفی
Sara Miglietti is Senior Lecturer in Cultural and Intellectual History at the Warburg Institute, School of Advanced Study, University of London. She previously held academic positions at Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University, and has been affiliated with Oxford’s Balliol College and the Bodleian Library as a visiting fellow. Her work bridges intellectual history, philosophy, and environmental thought with a focus on Renaissance and early modern Europe.
Her educational background includes dual PhDs: one in History of Philosophy (2012) from Scuola Normale Superiore and Université Paris Descartes, and another in Renaissance Studies (2016) from the University of Warwick. She also holds MA degrees in History of Philosophy from the University of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore.
Sara’s research centers on Renaissance intellectual history, particularly the history of political thought, translation practices, book history, and early modern environmental ideas. She has published extensively on Jean Bodin, self-translation, marginalia, and climate theories. Her work emphasizes transnational knowledge circulation, textual transmission, and the longue durée of philosophical traditions. She situates early modern thought within broader continuities from antiquity to modernity, with a strong emphasis on multilingualism and cultural mediation.
Her recent publications reveal a consistent focus on the intersections of environment, ethics, and political theory in early modern Europe. Themes such as climate apocalypse, human agency, and environmental reflexivity recur across her articles, monographs, and edited volumes. She frequently analyzes how classical ideas were adapted in the Renaissance, particularly through translation and commentary.
