Sara Lucatello is a Researcher at INAF Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova. She holds an Anna Boyksen Fellowship at the TUM Institute for Advanced Study (TUM-IAS) since 2018, focusing on 'Inclusion and Diversity in Physics.' Her academic journey includes a PhD and faculty position at the University of Padova, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Texas Austin and fellowships in Munich. She currently serves as Vice-President of the European Astronomical Society, advocating for diversity and inclusion in science.
Her research centers on spectroscopic studies of stellar populations, the Milky Way's formation, and large-scale astronomical surveys such as SDSS and APOGEE. She pioneers work in chemical tagging and Galactic dynamics using big data methodologies. Her leadership roles include co-chairing Sloan's Women's Participation Committee and serving on the SDSS Inclusion Committee.
As a TUM-IAS Fellow, she explores equity in scientific collaboration structures, authoring influential papers like Diversity and inclusiveness in large scientific collaborations (2017). Her recent work focuses on the WEAVE survey's design and neutron-capture element analysis in globular clusters.
