Sara Jamshidi

Sara Jamshidi is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics at Lake Forest College, serving as Co-Chair of the Artificial Intelligence program. She holds a PhD in Mathematics from Penn State University, MAs in Mathematics and Economics from California State University Los Angeles, and a BA in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego. Her research focuses on Computational Algebraic Geometry, Algebraic Statistics, Distributed Computation, and Machine Learning/AI applications. Her work bridges theoretical mathematics and computational methods, with contributions to Gröbner basis algorithms and symbolic computation frameworks.

Dr. Jamshidi’s publications emphasize algorithmic advancements in algebraic geometry, including randomized methods for Gröbner bases and parallel computing implementations. She has been recognized with awards such as the Penn State Dean’s Climate & Diversity Award (2013) and the Sidney Drell Science and Technology Award (2017). Professionally, she contributes to AI ethics initiatives via the IEEE and NIST working groups, and serves as a Subject Matter Expert for TrustVector, LLC.
