Sara J. Stern-Nezer

Sara J. Stern-Nezer, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. She holds multiple leadership roles including Director of the Neurocritical Care Fellowship, Director of Anatomy Co-Course, Medical Director of the Neurocritical Care ICU, Director of the Neurology Clerkship, and Director of the Neurosciences Clinical Course.

Her research interests focus on neurocritical care and stroke, with emphasis on clinical trials, quality improvement, sleep, delirium, and long-term outcomes after acute neurological injury such as cognitive changes, fatigue, and depression. Her work has explored cost-effective interventions in hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage, particularly the timing of oral antihypertensive initiation.

She has been recognized as a Physician of Excellence by the Orange County Medical Association in 2022.
