Sara Epp is an Associate Professor in Rural Planning & Development at the University of Guelph, specializing in social and agricultural planning across northern and southern Ontario. Her research addresses farmland loss, agricultural viability, land use conflicts, and rural migration, particularly focusing on Old Order Mennonite communities. She is affiliated with organizations such as the Canadian Association of Geographers and the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation.

Sara’s research explores the social dimensions of rural life, including planning strategies for cannabis production, enhancing local food systems, and overcoming barriers to agricultural development in northern Ontario. Current projects examine farmland loss in the Greater Golden Horseshoe, resilience of Mennonite communities, and land use conflicts.
Her affiliations include the Canadian Association of Geographers (CAG), American Association of Geographers (AAG), Canadian Association of Food Studies (CAFS), Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation (CRRF), and Rural Sociological Society (RSS).
