Sara Damewood

Sara Damewood, MD is Professor (CHS) of Emergency Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, where she also serves as Vice Chair of Education and Chief of the Division of Emergency Ultrasound within the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine. A nationally recognized leader, she directs educational and research initiatives spanning point-of-care ultrasound, simulation, and faculty development.

Research & Clinical Interests:

Dr. Damewood’s scholarly work centers on emergency and critical-care ultrasound, particularly simulation-based education, competency assessment, and fellowship curriculum design. Current projects investigate cardiopulmonary ultrasound in septic shock, aspiration pneumonia, 3-D printed anatomical models, and prehospital applications.

Laboratory & Teams:

She leads the Emergency Ultrasound Division, a multidisciplinary team of faculty, fellows, residents, and technologists advancing bedside ultrasound practice across UW Health’s emergency departments, Med Flight program, and affiliated community sites.
