Sara DE VIDO

Sara DE VIDO is a Full Professor of International Law at Ca' Foscari University of Venice, affiliated with the Department of Economics and the Interdepartmental School of Economics, Languages and Entrepreneurship. She serves as the GEP TEAM's Coordinator and Rector's delegate for the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the National Memorial Day of the Exiles and Foibe. Her research focuses on International Law and EU Law, particularly addressing gender-based violence, environmental law, animal rights, and transnational criminality. She leads projects like the PRIN-funded GenREm (Gendering International Legal Responses to Chronic Emergencies) and the Jean Monnet Whale Module on non-human animal rights. She is a senior expert for the European Commission’s gender equality network and has advised international bodies like the Council of Europe. Teaching includes courses on EU Law and International Law, with a focus on interdisciplinary approaches to human rights and global challenges.

Her research interests span the Istanbul Convention's implementation in EU law, climate litigation, and feminist legal perspectives on disarmament. She co-authored a 2025 monograph on EU law post-Istanbul Convention accession and contributed to studies on cyberviolence and environmental governance. She holds advanced proficiency in English and French, and her editorial roles include the Global Jurist and Jus Cogens. Current grants include the ECCE-HUMAN project on circular economy law and the ULEAD4ALL initiative for inclusive university leadership.

Her professional activities include international lectures at institutions like the University of Paris Cergy-Pontoise and Venice International University, where she teaches Gender Studies and Human Rights. She has held leadership roles in research centers such as the Centre for Human Rights Studies (Cestudir) and is part of the Women in International Law Network (Wilnet). Her work bridges legal frameworks with socio-political realities, emphasizing equity and global justice.
