Sara Brady

Sara Brady (she/her) is a Professor of Theatre and Performance at Bronx Community College (City University of New York, CUNY), where she chairs the Department of Communication Arts & Sciences. She serves as Managing Editor of TDR: The Journal of Performance Studies (Cambridge University Press). Her research focuses on the intersections of performance, politics, militarization, and media, with particular emphasis on the War on Terror, applied performance, and political theatre.

Brady’s recent publications analyze espionage performance (2022) and the cultural impact of drone warfare (2015). She has edited influential works like Performance in a Militarized Culture (2018) and co-edited The Performance Studies Reader (Fourth Edition, 2024). Her research examines how performance techniques are appropriated by militarization and how performance art confronts power structures across global contexts.
