Sara Blair is the Patricia S. Yaeger Collegiate Professor of English at the University of Michigan, affiliated with American Culture and Judaic Studies. She holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University (1989). Her research focuses on intersections of literature, visual culture, and material history, particularly in modernist and African American contexts. Notable works include How the Other Half Looks (Princeton, 2018) and Harlem Crossroads (Princeton, 2007). Blair has curated exhibitions at institutions like the DIA and Middlebury Art Museum, emphasizing curation as scholarly practice.
Her work is supported by NEH, ACLS, and Michigan Humanities fellowships. Administrative roles include Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, leading initiatives like The Humanities Collaboratory.
