Sara Awad

Dr. Sara Awad is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Queen's University, affiliated with the School of Medicine. She holds cross-appointments in the Translational Institute of Medicine (TIME) and serves as the Associate Program Director of Teaching and Learning for the Queen's University Internal Medicine Residency Program. Her academic roles include membership in the Competence Committee and the Internal Medicine Residency Program Committee.

Dr. Awad completed her MBBS at the University of Sharjah (2010), FRCPC in Internal Medicine (2015) at Queen's University, and Endocrinology subspecialty training at the University of Ottawa (2017). She earned an American Board of Internal Medicine certification in Endocrinology and Metabolism (2017). She also holds a Master’s of Health Professions Education (MHPE) from the University of Illinois at Chicago (2021).

Her research focuses on medical education innovations, particularly curriculum development in the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) framework, and clinical endocrinology. Key clinical interests include thyroid cancer, diabetes technology (e.g., insulin pumps), pituitary disorders, and endocrine management in pregnancy. She has contributed to interactive educational tools like chest X-ray learning modules and case-based learning resources.

Dr. Awad’s publications span endocrine case studies and educational methodologies. She actively participates in national conferences, presenting on topics like endocrine oncology, diabetes management, and residency program assessment. Her work emphasizes bridging clinical practice with educational excellence.
