Sanval Nasim is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Colby College, specializing in environmental and natural resource economics with a focus on South Asian contexts. His research explores topics such as groundwater management, air quality policy, political economy of foreign aid, and climate adaptation strategies. He holds a PhD from the University of California, Riverside (2015) and a BA from Colby College (2008).
His academic work bridges environmental policy analysis with behavioral economics, addressing questions about information dissemination, belief formation, and adaptation to environmental threats. Current research themes include experimental evidence on air quality perceptions in Pakistan, groundwater management under heterogeneous land tenure systems, and the efficacy of foreign aid in education sectors.
Nasim teaches courses such as Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Econometrics, and a seminar on global South perspectives in the Anthropocene. His scholarship emphasizes policy-relevant research, particularly in developing countries, and has been published in leading academic journals across environmental and development economics fields.
