Santanu Patra

Santanu Patra is a Research Fellow at the Department of Health Technology, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in drug delivery and sensing within the Drug Delivery and Sensing research group. His work focuses on developing electrochemical energy solutions for biomedical applications, with active collaborations across international research teams.

His research spans renewable energy systems, electrocatalysis, and energy harvesting technologies, with specific emphasis on self-powered medical devices. Patra develops advanced electrocatalytic materials for hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions and designs graphene-based biosensors for pharmaceutical and food safety applications. Dr. Patra actively supervises two major PhD projects through DTU Health Tech:

• Self-powered Biocompatible Supercapacitors for Ingestible Devices (2024-2027) mentoring Lintrup, R. Z.

Based in DTU's Health Technology department at Ørsteds Plads, Copenhagen, Patra operates within a specialized lab environment focused on biocompatible energy harvesters. His 2025 conference presentation on electrospun nanofiber supercapacitors demonstrates active development of novel materials for ingestible devices, working closely with Professor Anja Boisen's research team on translational medical device engineering.
