معرفی
Dr. Sanne Boesveldt is an Associate Professor in Sensory Science and Eating Behaviour at Wageningen University & Research. Her research focuses on understanding the interplay between olfactory and gustatory perception, particularly how these senses influence food choice, eating behavior, and health outcomes. She leads projects investigating post-COVID olfactory dysfunction, the role of smell in food preferences, and the development of immersive VR technologies to study multisensory food experiences.
Key research areas include:
- Olfactory and taste perception mechanisms
- Impact of sensory cues on food intake
- Long-term effects of chemosensory disorders
- Neurobiological basis of food preference
Her work spans clinical, nutritional, and consumer behavior domains with notable contributions to understanding how sensory systems adapt to modern dietary environments. Current projects explore e-cigarette flavor impacts, odor priming effects on food choices, and the neuroanatomical correlates of fat perception.
Dr. Boesveldt supervises 10+ PhD candidates and collaborates internationally on topics ranging from smell training efficacy to flavor chemistry of e-liquids. Recent studies highlight her expertise in translating sensory science into practical applications for healthcare and food industry contexts.
