Sanna Lehtinen

Sanna Lehtinen is a Research Fellow at the Transdisciplinary Arts Studies unit (TAS) within the School of Arts, Design and Architecture at Aalto University. She specializes in urban environmental aesthetics, ethics, and the philosophy of the city, with recent work focusing on the aesthetics of new urban technologies and environmental philosophy in the climate crisis era.

• Education: PhD (2015) from the University of Helsinki.
• Leadership Roles: President of the Finnish Society for Aesthetics and Codirector of the international Philosophy of the City Research Group.

Her research explores intersections of urban design, technology, and environmental ethics, emphasizing how smart technologies reshape urban experiences and contribute to sustainable futures. Recent publications address topics like aesthetic sustainability, urban mobility, and the ethical implications of technology-driven cityscapes.

Lehtinen's collaborative work with scholars such as Vihanninjoki and Mladenovic examines location-based technologies, self-driving vehicles, and smart city solutions. She has edited special issues for Contemporary Aesthetics and Open Philosophy, and her work appears in journals like Behaviour & Information Technology and Essays in Philosophy.
