Professor Sanjoy Bhattacharyya serves as Associate Dean for Medicine and Director of Assessment and GMC Liaison Advisor at the University of Bolton's School of Medicine. He collaborates with Leicester Medical School on curriculum-aligned assessments and leads the GMC application process. Concurrently, he holds key roles at the General Medical Council as a CPSA Board panel member and Vice-Chair, overseeing PLAB OSCE exams and examiner training.
Previously, he was Senior Clinical Lecturer and Director of Clinical Assessment at Lancaster Medical School. With 26 years as an Emergency Medicine Consultant at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, he specializes in emergency care for adults and children. His leadership includes Trust Specialty Training Lead roles, focusing on educational program oversight and departmental inductions.
Research interests center on medical education reform, clinical competency assessment, and emergency care protocols.
