Sangseraima Ujeed is an Assistant Professor of Tibetan Buddhism Studies at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (College of LSA), the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies (LRCCS), and the International Institute. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford (2018).

Research Interests
Focuses on transnational/transregional aspects of Tibetan Buddhism (17th-18th centuries), emphasizing lineage networks, identity formation, and cross-cultural knowledge transmission. Explores hybridity in religion and identity through textual analysis of Tibetan, Mongolian, Manchu, and Chinese sources. Engages with decolonial theory, translation studies, and narrative methodologies.

- Monograph: Mirror of Lives analyzing Mongolian-Tibetan Buddhist textual exchanges
- Digital humanities project mapping monastic networks and tantric transmission lineages
Teaching
Offers courses on Tibetan Buddhist history, ritual practices, oral traditions, and Himalayan/Inner Asian religions. Combines European philological methods with North American theoretical frameworks.
