Sandy Willett is an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy in the Physical Therapy Program at Colorado Mesa University, part of the College of Health and Human Services. She holds a PhD in Clinical Translational Research/Medical Sciences, an MS in Cell Biology and Anatomy, and a BS in Physical Therapy, all from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. With over 35 years of experience, she specializes in pediatric physical therapy, particularly in neonatal and early intervention settings.

Her scholarly work includes numerous publications in pediatric physical therapy, emphasizing motor-cognitive integration, caregiver involvement, and innovative interventions such as the GoBabyGo! program.
Willett’s recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on infant motor milestones (e.g., sitting, crawling), the effects of physical therapy on cognitive outcomes, and the role of caregiver engagement in therapeutic success. Her work often employs clinical trials and observational studies, contributing to evidence-based practice in pediatric rehabilitation.
She is a board-certified specialist in pediatric physical therapy and has held leadership roles including Director of a Pediatric Residency Program and Director of the Physical Therapy Department at the Munroe-Meyer Institute/UNMC. She founded the GoBabyGo! NE! Chapter, which has received substantial grant and philanthropic support.
Willett is dedicated to student-centered, interactive teaching, emphasizing adaptability and intellectual growth. She mentors future physical therapists through curriculum development and clinical training in evidence-based and interprofessional practice.
