Sandro Giovanni LONGO is a Full Professor of Hydraulics at the Department of Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma, Italy. He holds a PhD in Hydrodynamics and has been a confirmed researcher since 1998, Associate Professor since 2005, and Full Professor since 2018. He has held leadership roles including Director of the Hydraulic Lab, Coordinator of the PhD Programme in Civil Engineering and Architecture (2020–2022), and Director of the Doctoral School in Engineering and Architecture (2021–2022).

The recent publications reflect a strong trend in gravity current dynamics, wave-structure interaction, rheology of complex fluids, and experimental modeling of environmental flows. These works span journals like Water Resources Research, Coastal Engineering, and Journal of Fluid Mechanics, emphasizing fundamental physics with engineering relevance.
