Sandra Parmegiani is an Associate Professor, Head, and Academic Advisor of European Studies at the School of Languages and Literatures, University of Guelph. She specializes in European literature from the Enlightenment to the present, focusing on Anglo-Italian cultural relations and the history of publishing in modern Europe. Her work integrates digital humanities methodologies to explore textual mobility and cross-cultural exchanges.
Education: BA from Università degli Studi di Trieste (Italy), MA and Doctorate from University of Rome La Sapienza/University of Trieste, PhD from University of Toronto.
Research interests include 18th-century transnational journalism, women’s conduct manuals in modern Europe, and digital mapping of literary reception. She directs the Italian Canadian Narrative Showcase (ICNS) and serves on the Italian Canadian Archives Project (ICAP) board. Recent projects analyze Claudio Magris’s narrative treatment of memory and European identity.
Publications span monographs like Ugo Foscolo and English Culture and edited volumes such as Femminismo e femminismi. Her articles frequently examine intersections between literature and history, with a focus on transnational frameworks.
Recipient of multiple teaching awards, including the 2012 Student Senate Council Contribution Award and 2009-2010 College of Arts Faculty Excellence Award. Her work balances scholarly rigor with engagement in cultural preservation initiatives.
