Dr. Sanaullah Jan serves as an Assistant Professor at Edinburgh Napier University within the School of Computing Engineering and the Built Environment since September 2021. Previously, he held a Post-doctoral Research Fellowship at the Center of Affective and Human Computing for Smart Environment at the University of the West of Scotland (2020-2021) and academic positions at the University of Ulsan (South Korea) and the University of Lahore (Pakistan).
His research concentrates on the convergence of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity, with specialized focus on Internet-of-Things, Cyber Physical Systems, and eHealth applications. Dr. Jan's work addresses critical challenges in Intrusion Detection Systems, Fuzzy Systems, and Digital Forensics. He is actively associated with the Centre for Cybersecurity, IoT and Cyberphysical Systems at Edinburgh Napier University.
Dr. Jan has co-authored over 30 publications in international journals and conference proceedings. His recent research demonstrates strong emphasis on applying advanced machine learning techniques to cybersecurity challenges in IoT environments, particularly in federated learning for sensor networks and cryptographic security protocols.

As an academic supervisor, Dr. Jan guides PhD research on cutting-edge topics including Digital Twin applications for IoT-based Smart Cities and Blockchain-based Privacy-preserving Cybersecurity Intelligence Sharing. He has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs and serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for numerous high-impact journals and conferences in his field.
Through his affiliation with the Centre for Cybersecurity, IoT and Cyberphysical Systems, Dr. Jan collaborates with multidisciplinary research teams developing innovative security solutions for connected systems and smart environments.
