Samuel Z. Goldhaber

Samuel Z. Goldhaber, MD is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of Faculty Promotions in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He leads the BWH Thrombosis Research Group and serves as Principal Investigator for observational and randomized trials focused on venous thromboembolism, stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation (AF), and direct oral anticoagulants.

• Recognized for pivotal trials leading to FDA approval of systemically administered TPA and ultrasound-facilitated, catheter-directed thrombolysis for pulmonary embolism
• Recipient of the Surgeon General's Certificate of Appreciation and the American Heart Association's Distinguished Scientist Award

His current research interests include weight management and autonomic nervous system dysfunction related to COVID-19. He founded the North American Thrombosis Forum in 2006 to advance thrombosis education for healthcare providers, patients, and the public.
