Samuel Fiorini

Samuel Fiorini is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Free University of Brussels (ULB), Belgium. He has held postdoctoral positions at MIT with Michel Goemans and Andreas Schulz, and at GERAD and McGill University in Montreal. His research bridges discrete mathematics and optimization, with notable contributions to extended formulations and computational complexity.

• Recipient of the prestigious STOC'12 Best Paper Award for collaborative work on lower bounds for extended formulations.
• Awarded an ERC Grant from the European Community (2014–2019).
• Visiting Scientist during the Fall 2017 program 'Bridging Continuous and Discrete Optimization'.
