معرفی
Samuel E. Gralla is an Associate Professor of Physics and core faculty in the theoretical astrophysics program at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on gravitational physics, plasma physics, and astrophysics, particularly in strong gravitational/electromagnetic fields near black holes and neutron stars. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Chicago (2011).
Research interests include black hole imaging (e.g., Event Horizon Telescope), photon ring structure, gravitational self-force, and relativistic magnetospheres. He has contributed to understanding spacetime geometry near black holes, including spin-induced phenomena and horizon instability. His work bridges theoretical physics with observational astronomy, emphasizing precision tests of general relativity.
Notable achievements include foundational studies on gravitational self-force, relativistic two-body dynamics, and the interpretation of black hole images. He has advised three Ph.D. students and engages in public outreach, including lectures on relativity and black holes.
