Samuel Beck is a Research Associate at the Institute for Visualization and Interactive Systems (VIS) within the College of Engineering at the University of Stuttgart. His work spans interdisciplinary domains including information visualization, human-computer interaction, and performance engineering. He actively contributes to projects like InTaVia, focusing on data-driven storytelling and cultural heritage visualization.
His research explores visualization techniques for transient behavior in microservices, dance choreography analysis, and narrative visualization of biographies. Key collaborations include Steffen Koch, Eva Mayr, Johannes Liem, and Florian Windhager. His publications address topics such as geospatial data filtering, formation dance planning, and chatbot-assisted software testing.
Beck has participated in organizing committees, serving as Publicity Chair for VISSOFT 2022. He teaches courses on information visualization, graph/network visualization, and web-based visualization tools. His work emphasizes practical applications through prototyping and user evaluation, integrating visual analytics with software engineering and digital humanities.
