Samuel Arias Sánchez is a Lecturer in the Experimental Psychology Department at the University of Seville, Spain, and a researcher at the Human Activity Laboratory (HUM-327). He holds a Doctorate in Psychology and three Master’s degrees: Human Resources Management, Advanced Studies in Brain and Behavior, and Organizational and Work Psychology. His academic career includes visiting research positions at the University of Florence (Italy), Emory University (USA), and the Nottingham University Institute of Mental Health (UK), as well as teaching at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
His research focuses on narrative analysis, autobiographical memory, cultural identity, mental health, and professional identity construction. Notable projects include DYRISES (examining self-construction in cultural settings) and collaborative studies on creative practices for social inclusion. He has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles and several books, including Construyendo identidad(es) en escenarios culturales and edited volumes on health humanities and recovery narratives.
Professionally, he teaches Methodology of Research and Organizational Evaluation in the Master’s programs in Social Intervention and Human Resources Management, as well as undergraduate courses like Research Methods in Psychology. He supervises over 50 final degree projects and actively promotes innovative teaching methods, such as service-learning and photovoice interventions. His awards include the Best Andalusian University Student Award (2009).
Samuel’s work extends to community engagement, including workshops on stigma reduction for mental health professionals and creative interventions for vulnerable populations. He is also involved in cultural projects, such as the Family Narratives Lab and Art for Health initiatives. His hobbies include music, literature, and sports, reflecting his belief in interdisciplinary and holistic approaches to human behavior.
