Samson Ting is a PhD candidate in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Western Australia (UWA), concurrently serving as a Casual Teaching Lecturer and Research Officer across multiple departments including the School of Social Sciences and Planning and Transport Research Centre (PATREC). His research focuses on advancing traffic modelling through statistical and mathematical techniques, particularly Bayesian frameworks.
Education: Master of Professional Engineering (Civil Engineering, UWA, 2020); Bachelor of Philosophy (UWA, 2019).
Research interests center on applying mathematical and statistical methods to transport engineering challenges, addressing gaps in model predictive power for complex traffic systems. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable cities and communities.
Recent articles explore Bayesian approaches for traffic parameter estimation and model validation, emphasizing uncertainty quantification. His team’s roundabout safety review project leverages drone analytics for infrastructure optimization.
Recipient of the 2022 School of Social Sciencess Award for Research Impact and Innovation. Collaborates on grants such as the iMove CRC-funded roundabout safety initiative.
Affiliated with PATREC and the UWA Data Institute, contributing to interdisciplinary transport engineering solutions.
