Samrina Rehman

Dr. Samrina Rehman is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Division of Evolution, Infection and Genomics within the Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester. She holds prestigious fellowships including Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) and Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC), demonstrating her significant contributions to biomedical research.

Her educational background includes a PhD in Systems Biology, MSc in Cheminformatics, and MChem in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Manchester, complemented by an Executive MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology. Her career spans Inpharmatica, Evotec UK, Medicines Discovery Catapult, and her current academic appointment, with research contributions to drug discovery tools now integrated into ChEMBL.

Dr. Rehman's research focuses on applying informatics, modeling, and systems biology to unravel human physiology complexities across multiple disease areas. Her work integrates clinical metabolomics, transcriptomics, and lipidomics with systems biology approaches to address challenges in connective tissue disease, neurodegenerative conditions (particularly multiple sclerosis), liver disease, neuropathic pain, and healthy ageing. She employs advanced computational techniques including machine learning and multivariate data analysis to tackle these complex medical problems.

Her recent publications reveal a strong trend toward understanding disease heterogeneity through multi-omics approaches, with particular emphasis on brain tissue analysis in multiple sclerosis and mathematical modeling of disease mechanisms in Dupuytren's contracture. These works demonstrate her interdisciplinary approach bridging computational methods with clinical applications.
