Samina Akbar

Samina Akbar, Ph.D., is a Professor of Microbiology at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she has held positions since 2013, advancing to full professor in 2023. She earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from UC Davis, followed by postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and research roles at the University of British Columbia's Center for Disease Control. Her expertise spans bacterial pathogenesis, antibiotic resistance mechanisms, and environmental microbiology.

Dr. Akbar’s research focuses on multidrug-resistant bacteria in clinical, agricultural, and environmental settings.
