Samantha Slaubaugh is an Assistant Professor of Theology at Marian University. She holds a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, specializing in medieval liturgy. Previously, she served as a postdoctoral teaching scholar at Notre Dame and a postdoctoral associate at Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Her research focuses on medieval women’s liturgical lives, Christian mysticism, and medieval Franciscans, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between liturgy and ecstatic experiences in hagiographic texts.
Her academic journey includes teaching at Yale Divinity School and co-authoring works on medieval mysticism and liturgical practices. She explores contemporary liturgical issues such as children’s participation in worship, bridging historical and modern theological inquiries. Her publications include entries in Medieval Mystical Women in the West and The Palgrave Encyclopedia of Medieval Women's Writing, alongside articles in Viator and Religions.
Slaubaugh teaches courses on theology fundamentals, liturgy, and Franciscan spirituality. Her interdisciplinary work integrates disability theology and gender studies, offering fresh perspectives on medieval religious practices and their relevance today.
