Samantha Hays is an Assistant Research Scientist and Laboratory Manager at the Texas A&M AgriLife Tick Research Laboratory, affiliated with the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Entomology from Texas A&M University, an M.S. in Agriculture and Natural Resource Sciences from Tarleton State University, and a B.S. in Animal Science from Tarleton State University.
Her research focuses on ticks and arthropods impacting humans, livestock, wildlife, and companion animals, emphasizing holistic integrated tick management strategies and tick-host-landscape-climate interactions. She contributes to educational programs on pest management and disease control.
Hays is a member of Texas A&M AgriLife Research and collaborates with institutions like the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab. Her work aligns with One Health principles and addresses vector biology challenges.
