Associate Professor Samantha Fraser-Bell is an academic in the Discipline of Ophthalmology at the University of Sydney, affiliated with the Save Sight Institute and the Macula Research Group. She is a consultant at Sydney Eye Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital, specializing in Medical Retina and Uveitis. Her roles include Deputy Director of Clinical Trials at the Save Sight Institute and co-Director of the Sydney Eye Hospital Medical Retina Fellowship program.
Her research focuses on advanced retinal diseases, including diabetic macular edema (DME), age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and retinal vein occlusion (RVO). She has led clinical trials (e.g., AUSSIEDEX, BEVORDEX) and collaborated internationally with institutions in Germany, Israel, Italy, Thailand, and the U.S. on studies involving anti-VEGF therapies, corticosteroid implants, and novel imaging techniques.
