Samantha F. Ehrlich, PhD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport Studies at the University of Tennessee, affiliated with the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Her research focuses on physical activity epidemiology during pregnancy and the postpartum period, particularly examining metabolic and cardiovascular disease risk factors. She holds editorial roles at PLOS One and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth.
Education: BS in Biology and Women’s Studies (University of Michigan, 2002); MPH in Maternal and Child Health (UC Berkeley, 2005); PhD in Epidemiology (UC Berkeley, 2011). Postdoctoral research at Kaiser Permanente Northern California Division of Research.
Research interests include gestational diabetes, physical activity timing interventions, and lifestyle interventions for gestational weight management. Current grants include studies on physical activity timing in pregnancy (American Diabetes Association) and time-based energy intake goals in obesity treatment (NIH/NIDDK).
Labs/Teams: Director of the Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Activity for Wellness Lab and co-investigator in the Physical Activity Epidemiology Laboratory. Active in translational research bridging clinical and behavioral interventions.
