Samah Ahmadieh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine : Hospital Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia. She specializes in cardiology, medical education, and health policy with a focus on cardiometabolic disease. Dr. Ahmadieh holds an MD from Mercer University (2018) and a BS in Microbiology from the University of Georgia (2013).
Her research interests center on cardiometabolic disease mechanisms, including mitochondrial dysfunction, adipose tissue biology, and atherosclerosis progression. She has contributed to studies on IL-6 signaling in Müller glial cells and HDAC9-driven metabolic disorders in aging models.
Award highlights include the 2024 Research Resident of the Year and 2023 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Research. She teaches core clinical courses (GMED 5000, GMED 5011) and serves on the ACC Advocacy Team and Wellstar MCG Health Delegate.
Professional service includes peer review roles at Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology and the Journal of the American Heart Association. Her work bridges clinical practice, education, and translational research in cardiovascular health.
