Sam Punshon-Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department at Tulane University (2022–present). Previously, he held roles including Prager Assistant Professor and NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at Brown University (2018–2021), and Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Maryland (2017–2018). He completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Maryland (2017), mentored by C.D. Levermore, and holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2010).
Research Interests: Focuses on partial differential equations, stochastic processes, and mathematical analysis. He organizes the Tulane Informal Analysis Seminar, emphasizing foundational topics in analysis and their applications, such as stability of solutions in vasculogenesis models. His work bridges theoretical analysis and applied problems in mathematical physics.
