معرفی
Sam Lee is a Research Fellow at the School of Earth, Atmospheric and Life Sciences (SEALS), University of Wollongong. His research focuses on Permian brachiopods, palaeoecology, and cold-water environments in eastern Australia. He holds a PhD in Palaeontology from Deakin University (2008–2013), followed by postdoctoral training there and at the Korea Polar Research Institute. His work integrates sedimentology, biostratigraphy, and geochemistry to study environmental fluctuations and biodiversity changes in the Permian period.
Research Interests: Permian brachiopods, palaeoecology, palaeobiogeography, sedimentology, and the interplay between environmental factors and biodiversity. His studies emphasize the southern Sydney Basin and Gondwana margins, using advanced imaging techniques like X-ray microtomography and U-Pb zircon dating.
Recent Articles Trends: Publications highlight Permian brachiopod systematics, environmental interactions, and stratigraphic correlations. Recent work addresses Permian mass extinctions, glaciomarine deposits, and tectonic reconstructions in South China and Australia.
Grants:
- 2023: Permian bio- and chemo-stratigraphies for environmental fluctuations.
- 2022: Revision of Permian litho- and chrono-stratigraphy in the southern Sydney Basin.
- 2019: Understanding Permian marine shell beds in the southern Sydney Basin.
Supervision: Currently supervising a PhD project on Permian rocks in the southern Sydney Basin.
