معرفی
Dr. Sam Harrison is a Research Fellow in the Electronic and Electrical Engineering department at the University of Strathclyde's Faculty of Engineering. His work focuses on modern power systems integration with renewable energy sources, specializing in grid-forming and grid-following converter technologies.
His research interests center on power system stability in converter-dominated networks, with expertise in:
- Frequency stability and inertial response mechanisms
- Multiport power converter applications for distribution networks
- Small-signal modeling for sub-synchronous oscillation analysis
- Grid-forming converter resilience engineering
- Techno-economic assessment of smart grid technologies
Harrison's publication portfolio demonstrates consistent focus on power converter control dynamics and renewable integration challenges. His recent work spans IEEE Access, IET Conference Proceedings, and Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, showing progression from foundational control dynamics studies toward comprehensive system-level analyses of grid stability.
Harrison actively contributes to academic discourse through conference organization, notably serving as organiser for ELECTRIMACS 2024 in Castello. His research is supported by significant funding including the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Future Power Networks and Smart Grids where he served as Research Co-investigator.
Harrison maintains active research infrastructure through datasets including Virtual Synchronous Machine models and inertia measurement scripts. His doctoral thesis "Advancements in converter-based frequency stability: recommendations for industrial applications" forms the foundation of his current research trajectory in power system stability.
