Sam Beaver

Sam Beaver is a Research Officer at the Australian National University (ANU) Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions (ICEDS), with prior roles at the Fenner School of Environment and Society as a Field Services Officer and tutor for climate and environmental courses. He holds a Master of Environmental Management and Development from ANU's Crawford School of Public Policy (2022), where he topped his cohort.

His research focuses on justice and equity in sustainable transformation, place-based sustainability, and carbon market co-impacts, particularly analyzing the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme's effects on landscapes and communities. Sam also works on enabling social, environmental, and economic co-benefits for carbon farming projects while mitigating risks.

Sam contributes to climate advocacy as the policy-lead for Protect Our Winters Australia and continues outdoor/environmental education with young people, complementing his work through rock climbing, skiing, and wilderness exploration.
