Dr Salvatore Calabrese is Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University with joint appointments in the Colleges of Agriculture & Life Sciences and Engineering. He holds a BS and MS from University of Palermo, and a PhD from Princeton University. His research addresses climate change impacts on hydrologic and biogeochemical cycles, developing models to quantify ecosystem sensitivity to environmental changes.
Current projects investigate: carbon cycle-soil moisture interactions; sustainable agriculture; water-carbon nexus; soil microbial modeling; and enhanced weathering for carbon sequestration. He leads the Hydrology and Ecohydrology Lab, mentoring PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. Recognized with FFAR New Innovator and ISSNAF Young Investigator awards.
Research integrates field experiments with mathematical modeling across scales. Recent publications focus on soil carbon dynamics under land management changes and enhanced weathering techniques.
