Dr Salvatore Butera is a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow and Lord Kelvin/Adam Smith Leadership Fellow at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on quantum field theory and theoretical physics, particularly zero-point fluctuations, Casimir effects, and analog models of gravity. He has held positions at the Quantum Gravity group at Centre de Physique Théorique in Marseille and the BEC Center at University of Trento, Italy.
- BSc in Aerospace Engineering, University of Palermo
- MSc in Aerospace Engineering, University of Palermo
- MSc in Physics, University of Palermo
- PhD, Heriot-Watt University
His work explores quantum gravity through laboratory analogs of black hole phenomena and early universe dynamics. He investigates the back-reaction of quantum fields on spacetime, aiming toward a fully quantum theory of gravity.
