Salvador Ignacio Rus Rufino

Salvador Ignacio Rus Rufino is Professor (Catedrático de Universidad) at the University of León's Faculty of Education, where he serves in the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy. His primary research area is History of Thought and Social Movements, with affiliations to the DERFIN research group and previous membership in APECONE.

He earned his doctorate from the University of León in 1997 with the thesis Aristóteles y la política ciudadana, supervised by Dr. Manuel Abilio Rabanal Alonso.

Rus Rufino's research focuses on the historical development of political philosophy from antiquity through the Enlightenment, with particular expertise in:

• Aristotelian political theory (zoon politikon, mixed government)
• Spanish Enlightenment natural law
• Historical concepts of justice and sovereignty
• Reception of classical political thought in medieval/early modern Europe

His scholarly publications demonstrate sustained focus on political philosophy across three decades, examining concepts like the state of nature, monarchical legitimacy, and democratic foundations through historical case studies ranging from Solon's Athens to 16th-century Castile.
