Dr. Salman Shooshtarian is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Director of RMIT's Construction Waste Lab (CWL) at the School of Property, Construction and Project Management, RMIT University. His research focuses on environmental sustainability, particularly built environment sustainability, waste management, and circular economy. He has led over $1 million in industry-driven projects and co-founded the CWL Research and Industry Portal.
He holds editorial roles in journals like Materials Circular Economy and Urbanization, Sustainability and Society, and participates in international conferences such as ASA and AUBEA. His teaching includes Project Management and Circular Economy Principles across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Awards include the 2024 RMIT Research Engagement and Impact Award (Team), Keith Hampson ECR Industry Award (Finalist), and recognition as a World’s Top 2% Scientist (2024). He actively advises on policy submissions to Australian and Victorian parliaments, focusing on circular economy integration and climate resilience.
