معرفی
Associate Professor Sakkas Vasilios is affiliated with the Department of Chemistry at the University of Ioannina (UoI), where he leads the Lab of Analytical Chemistry. His research focuses on developing advanced analytical methods for detecting and characterizing organic micro-pollutants in environmental and biological matrices. Key areas include micro-extraction techniques, chromatography-mass spectrometry, chemometrics, and environmental fate studies of pollutants. He has contributed to the optimization of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) for water treatment and pioneered studies on pharmaceutical residues in wastewater and essential oils' antibacterial efficacy.
His work integrates experimental design methodologies with cutting-edge analytical tools, addressing challenges in environmental monitoring and food safety. Notable projects include the application of magnetic graphene sorbents and ultrasound-assisted microextraction for pesticide detection. Over 15 publications since 2009 reflect his commitment to advancing environmental analytical chemistry.
Laboratory activities emphasize innovative sample preparation techniques and interdisciplinary approaches to pollution control. Current efforts focus on photocatalytic degradation of emerging contaminants and antibiotic resistance mitigation through natural compounds.
