Dr Sahil Warsi serves as a Research Fellow at the Nuffield Centre for International Health & Development, University of Leeds, and is an associated academic at the Sussex Asia Centre. His expertise lies in socially complex contexts, with a focus on migration and mental health in low-resource settings across South Asia and the UK.
He earned his PhD in Social Anthropology from SOAS, University of London, researching belonging and identity within Delhi's Afghan community. His professional background includes international development work on civil society and access to justice in the Caucuses and South, Central, and Western Asia.
Dr Warsi's research integrates social anthropology and public health to address migration, mental health, and health interventions. He has investigated language and memory among South Asian migrants in the UK and currently leads projects on tuberculosis and tobacco cessation in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan, working with culturally diverse populations.
He manages international research teams for projects funded by the NHS and other organizations, focusing on health challenges in complex social environments. His current work involves coordinating studies in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan to improve health outcomes for vulnerable groups.
Based at the Nuffield Centre for International Health & Development, Dr Warsi collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across South Asia to tackle public health issues through culturally sensitive approaches.
