Sadie Bergeron

Sadie Bergeron is an Associate Professor at West Virginia University School of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Neuroscience and the Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Her research explores molecular genetic pathways and environmental factors influencing brain development and function.

Her lab focuses on sensory processing in neurodevelopmental disorders like autism and schizophrenia, using zebrafish (Danio rerio) as a model organism. Projects include characterizing zebrafish mutants with defective sensory processing and analyzing neural circuitry development. A secondary research area investigates neural pathways controlling growth and reproduction, leveraging zebrafish mutants to study hypothalamic regulation of growth hormones and gamete formation.

The lab's publications center on zebrafish neurogenetics, including high-content screening, axon termination in visual processing regions, and transcriptional control of neuronal differentiation. These works often employ molecular genetic tools and microscopy to track neuroanatomical and behavioral changes.
