Sadia Khalid is an early-stage researcher and visiting lecturer at Tallinn University of Technology's School of Science, Department of Chemistry and Biotechnology. Her academic roles include a biotechnology specialist (0.8 FTE) and junior researcher (0.5 FTE). She holds a PhD in clinical aspects of Helicobacter pylori-induced liver diseases under Prof. Pirjo Spuul and an MD in Emergency Medicine from Dalian Medical University.
- Research Focus: Gut/urinary tract infections, liver diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and global health equity.
- Education: PhD candidate at Tallinn Tech (2019–present), MD in Emergency Medicine (Dalian Medical University, 2017), MBChB from Weifang Medical University (2014).
Her research investigates Helicobacter pylori's role in liver pathology and explores global health challenges like poverty's impact on health systems. Key projects include a 3D-printable cell factory platform for oleochemical production (€1.3M grant) and a study on Helicobacter-induced liver lesions in mice.
Publications: Over 80 articles, including peer-reviewed studies in Helicobacter and opinion pieces on global health equity, women's leadership in healthcare, and pandemic responses. Recent work addresses socioeconomic disparities in health outcomes and gender equity in healthcare leadership.
