Sabrina Zacharias is a Researcher at Queen's University, specializing in Nineteenth-Century Literature and Culture with a focus on the Victorian era. Her work examines marginalized identities—race, disability, gender, LGBTQ2S+—alongside class dynamics and neo-Victorian Gothic literature. She holds a BAH from the University of Winnipeg (2020) and an MPhil from Queen's University (2022), and is pursuing a PhD in English Literature.
Her research interests include the intersection of Victorian Gothic with contemporary media (video games, manga, comics), exploring how neo-Victorian narratives mediate identity through digital and visual storytelling. She has delivered guest lectures on video game Gothic narratives and neo-Victorian adaptations, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to literature.
Recent publications include analyses of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood and Indigenous Gothic comics, reflecting her commitment to decolonial studies and queer theory. Key awards include the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (2025) and the James W.S. Jamieson Award (2024). Her work bridges literary criticism with modern media, interrogating how historical slumming in neo-Victorian texts functions as a Gothic practice.
