Dr. Sabrina Bouarour is a Lecturer in French Studies at the University of London Institute in Paris (ULIP). Her academic research explores the relationship between film, politics of representation, cultural history, and gender & queer studies, with a focus on how power dynamics influence individual and societal identities.
Her research interests include Film and Media Studies, Gender and Queer Theories, Filmmaking, Visual Culture, and Urban Culture. She has published extensively on representations of masculinity in postwar cinema, intersectionality in film, and transmedia storytelling.
Dr. Bouarour is also an accomplished independent filmmaker, having directed and produced the award-winning documentary 'Lights of Baltimore' which explores systemic racism and urban segregation following Freddie Gray's death. Her film has screened at international festivals including St. Louis International Film Festival and Maryland Film Festival.
