Sabri Gökmen is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. Previously, he served as Chair and Associate Professor at Kadir Has University’s School of Architecture in Istanbul, where he founded the Digital Design and Fabrication Laboratory. His research focuses on computational design, AI, and cultural heritage preservation, particularly analyzing Seljuk Muqarnas and Ottoman-era architecture. He has led a TUBITAK (NSF) grant project as coordinator, collaborating with researchers like Sema Alacam.

- PhD in Design Computation (Georgia Tech), exploring Goethe’s morphological theories computationally
Research Interests: Integrates AI and computational tools to preserve cultural heritage, develop generative art (including blockchain platforms), and advance digital fabrication techniques. Projects include parametric design workflows, minimal surface geometry studies, and public art installations like those for Zaha Hadid Architects.
Grants & Projects: Received TUBITAK funding for computational analysis of Seljuk Muqarnas, resulting in publications in Journal on Computing and Cultural Heritage and Nexus Network Journal. His work bridges academic research with industry, including consulting for high-profile AEC projects.
Labs/Teams: Founded Kadir Has University’s Digital Design and Fabrication Lab, fostering interdisciplinary innovation in architecture and technology.
