Sabit Ekin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution at Texas A&M University, with affiliations in Electrical & Computer Engineering. He holds academic leadership roles as Director of Texas Wireless and Director of the Generative AI Literacy Initiative at TAMIDS. His research focuses on wireless communication, mmWave/terahertz systems, IoT applications, and light wave sensing, supported by grants from DOE, NSF, NASA, and others.
Education: PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University (2012). Awards include the DOE Early Career Award (2022) and PSO/Albrecht Naeter Endowed Professorship. His work spans 5G/6G networks, hybrid RF/optical communication, and health monitoring via wireless sensing. Notable projects include LunarCom (NASA collaboration) and the Oklahoma CubeSat Initiative (OKSat).
Research sponsors include DOE, NSF, NASA, FAA, and AFOSR. His lab (OWL) develops innovative solutions for communication systems, IoT, and sensing technologies. Collaborators include NASA Goddard, University of Oklahoma, and industry partners.
