Sabine Schindler is a Full Professor at the University of Innsbruck's Department of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences (ACINN). She holds dual expertise in astrophysics and academic leadership, with a career spanning research institutions like the Max Planck Institutes, University of California Santa Cruz, and Liverpool John Moores University. She has served as Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Innsbruck (2012–2017) and Rector of UMIT Hall in Tirol (2014–2020).
- Education: PhD in Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (1987–1992), with early studies at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg.
- Leadership: Directed the Institute for Astro- and Particle Physics (2004–2012) and led computational research initiatives like the FWF Doctoral College for Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling (2010–2014).
Research focuses on galaxy cluster simulations and computational methodologies. She has received prestigious awards including the Tiroler Adler-Orden and memberships in international science academies. Her advisory roles include the European Southern Observatory (ESO) Board (2008–2014) and the European Science Foundation’s College of Expert Reviewers (since 2018).
